Preparing for the Critical Design Review

Hello, my name is John. I am part of the Electrical Division. My specialization in BESPIN is the Power System, but since we are few people in the electrical I have a finger or two in other stuff as well. As our flotation probe is really small, it is a real challenge to design the electrical system.

This week has been all about preparing for the CDR. This is the event where we show our design for the REXUS-panel. It is also the event where we get to know if we can start building our probes :D

To prepare for the CDR there are alot of things that has to be made. As this is our Critical Design Review, almost all of our design has to be done. To top it all of, the major design has to be presented in 20 minutes infront of a panel consisting of a wide range of experts, dying to dig in to our project. Even if they are here to help us, it is somewhat scary.  As we only have 20 minutes to present, and then 70 minutes of discussion with the experts, we need to condense the essence of our 200+ pages SED into those few minutes of presentation. This is really hard!

We are a total of five people going to present our design at DLR in Germany. Daniel, Diyar and Jonas joined me in Kiruna for one week to prepare a presentation which includes our areas (Electrical, Mechanical, Software and Team management). Jaka joins us in Germany prior to the CDR. The hardest part of the preparation has been to learn to pronounce the location of the CDR, Oberpaf.. Überpfaff.. Oberpfaffenhofen, phew, which is located just outside of Munich. The trip will be long, three connected flights, a long ride by train and a few kilometers of walking. All in all about ten hours of travel time.

We are all so hyped about this!
Lets do this!

/John
